Wish Upon A Star

Hi! Today's my turn to Wish Upon A Star thanks to Carol at Just Let Me Quilt. She's a great hostess with wonderfully fun ideas for hops. Before I get to my projects, here is a list of the participants for the hop. Check them all out. There are many beautiful quilts and projects to be seen.

When I do my wishing upon a star, I do it on a STARFISH! That's right. I would like to retire to the beach someday so I'm starting to redecorate with a beachy theme. For my main project I made a starfish pillow. I used coral colored fabric with a swirl design. It reminds me of a starfish. I also used twenty six buttons: one large, ten medium and fifteen small to decorate him with. Hand sewing all those buttons on was the hardest part. I think he turned out handsomely.

I got the free pattern from Sew4Home. Click here if you'd like to make your own.

I also started a couple of projects that I didn't finish. So many things that I wanted to try. The first was a mini turquoise and white star pattern from Kathleen Tracy's book "Small and Scrappy." It finishes at 13-1/2 by 13-1/2. The little star in the middle took me three or four tries to get right.

Last, but not least, was the binding tool star by the Missouri Star Quilt Company. This was much bigger than I thought it would be. It is a gorgeous lap sized quilt. I might have to see if I can finish this one and adjust the pattern to make a smaller version in batiks with a black background. If anyone would like to make this one, the tutorial is on youtube.com here.

That's all from me this time. Please check out the links to the other hoppers. Many beautiful quilts and other project from blogland. Thanks for visiting.
